Evaluations
Clinical Assessments for Immigration and Bariatric Needs
At BTC Psychotherapy, we offer thorough, compassionate evaluations that support you through important life transitions. Whether you’re preparing for bariatric surgery or navigating the legal and emotional complexities of immigration cases, these assessments are designed to give clear, clinically grounded insight into your mental health and readiness for the journey ahead.
Why These Evaluations Matter
Many major life decisions whether medical or legal come with emotional and psychological implications that are just as real as the physical or legal ones. Evaluations help:
Clarify your current mental health and coping strengths
Identify risk factors that may affect outcomes or recovery
Support you with tailored recommendations for growth and resilience
Provide documented, credible insight that can be meaningful to medical teams, family systems, or legal partners
You don’t have to go into these processes blind. We walk with you step by step, with care, clarity, and respect for your story and your family context.
How the Process Works:
Immigration Evaluations:
BTC Psychotherapy conducts trauma-informed, culturally aware clinical evaluations to support a variety of immigration cases. These assessments are clinical evaluations, not therapy, and they are designed to provide documentation that can be used in legal proceedings.
We provide evaluations for situations including:
Asylum cases
Extreme hardship waivers and cancellation of removal
VAWA (abuse or domestic violence cases)
U-Visas (for victims of qualifying crimes)
T-Visas (for survivors of human trafficking)
Other immigration-related evaluations as needed
How It Works:
You reach out via phone, email, or contact form and we gather basic information about your case.
Two 90-minute sessions (usually over 1–2 weeks) to collect personal, trauma, psychological, and social history.
A detailed clinical report is drafted that documents your history, trauma impact, current mental health status, and relevant clinical conclusions.
The draft is sent to your attorney for review and minor adjustments as needed.
Once approved, the final report is delivered for use in your immigration case.
Where & How It’s Offered:
In-person (Georgia) and virtual (Georgia + South Carolina)
Evaluations available in English and Spanish
Payment plans available; payment required before final report delivery
Please note: Immigration evaluations are clinical assessments designed specifically for legal use and should not be considered therapy. They are separate and distinct from counseling or psychotherapeutic support
Bariatric Pre-Surgical Clinical Mental Health Evaluations:
Preparing for bariatric surgery means preparing emotionally and psychologically as well as physically. BTC offers bariatric mental health evaluations to help you understand your readiness for surgery and identify supports that can enhance your recovery and long-term success.
A Bariatric Pre-surgical Clinical Mental Health Evaluation assesses your emotional readiness for surgery and offers insight into your strengths, stress coping skills, support systems, and areas that could benefit from attention before you proceed. This evaluation helps you and your medical team plan for a healthier, more stable recovery process.
How Bariatric Referrals Work:
Evaluations are scheduled by doctor referral only.
Your surgical team typically requires this assessment before approving bariatric surgery.
What the Evaluation Looks At:
During the evaluation, we explore things like:
Your emotional regulation and coping skills
How you manage stress, pain, and change
Your perspective on food, eating habits, and lifestyle
Exercise, sleep, and overall wellbeing
Social support and your network of care
You’ll have space to talk honestly about your concerns, history, fears, hopes, and expectations, all in a respectful, confidential setting.
